Almost every fashionista’s mantra is “dress to impress” and this instance is no different. When meeting the parents of your beau, one tends to go ultra conservative and ends up introducing herself looking like a nun. Skipping the mini skirts and plunging necklines does not mean you need to skimp on style. You still need to dress like yourself and choose something that goes along with your style.
Wear a simple dress that hits right above the knee, preferably one in a color that flatters and makes you stand out. If the dress is sleeveless, layer it with a neutral cardigan or jacket. Add a belt around the cardigan to give it a little more pizazz. The same can be done with a simple blouse and skirt. Add a jean jacket for a more casual feel. For shoes, flats are always appropriate and for a little lift, wedges can be worn, but make sure they are not sky high.
Pants are also an alternative to a dress or skirt. A wide-leg trouser or jean is a universal figure flattering shape. The pant can be worn with a sleek boot or heel. An airy blouse with a fun pattern will complement the pants. Pair the top with an accessory, like a vest or belt, and the outfit will be complete.
Remember: do not wear anything too form-fitting, too short or skin bearing. And don’t forget to be true to your style. Just think ‘conservative chic’ and you will wow his parents.
